Brighton On Brighton Photo Exhibition - 3 November, 2008

Come see my own work and the work of 5 more Brighton photographers, each displaying images that sum up their passion and approach to the local music scene in their own unique way. There is a public launch day on Sat 08 november. Come down FOR ONE DAY ONLY!!!!!
Blurb-
Brighton on Brighton photography gallery at Juice 107.2
In the space of less than a week, a music photography gallery featuring 6 local photographers has been brought together at the offices of Juice 107.2 by Greg Neate. Bringing together Brighton’s most enthusiastic contributors of music photographs to the photo sharing website, Flickr, the gallery aims to show Brighton music as seen by Brighton photographers.
Mike Burnell may look like a bouncer in the pit but instead you’ll find him facing the stage with his camera. He has a close association with the Maccabees and regularly contributes to the Argus, as well Artrocker magazine. Andy Parker, aka the Avangelist, has a passion for capturing the heavier things in life, usually as seen at the Freebutt, and brings the same DIY punk ethic to his photography. Nikki Acott previously performed in Made of Wool and her access to the Brighton noise network is seen in her photographs from Colour Out of Space, the UK’s premier noise festival. Veronika Moore has photographs from The Silent Disco and the Great Escape on display. David Stock does regular promo and live work for unsigned bands and is currently looking for a band willing to make a creative use of four white boiler suits in exchange for a free photoshoot.
The gallery is open for one day only on Saturday November 8th from 10 am to 6 pm at Juice 107.2 on 170 North Street. (next to Northern Rock)
Free Photoshoot - Competition - 29 October, 2008
I’m asking for people to message me with photo ideas to make use of 4 disposable white boiler / decorators suits that I have laying about. In exchange I am offering a free photo shoot to the most original and creative idea. The best idea so far comes from a band Needs Must who want to explore the “theme of [..] wearing the suits and investigating the death of british society or the death of british music…….”
I’m sure there are plenty of good ideas out there so if you or anyone you know might be interested in working with me to make use of these suits then I urge you to get in touch….
THE DEAL
I am offering a free photoshoot to anyone who thinks they could make a visual impact utilising these suits. Whilst I have my own ideas, I am open to suggestions so get creative and let me know why you should be photographed in these. Copies of these images will be given to you to make promotional use of you band, artistic endeavor, event etc….
The conditions -
The photoshoot must take place in and around brighton, OR my expenses must be covered
I’m not interested in seedy or pornographic shots, just creative images, glamour is fine but no nudity for the sake of it
Whilst I am mainly a music photographer I will welcome suggestions from anyone
There will be only one winner which will be selected upon the merit of their vision
The more creative the better
No Time-wasters!
If you think this might interest you or someone you know then please get in touch with me at davestock@windowtreeandlight.co.uk or visit the website www.windowtreeandlight.co.uk
Cheers

“New Song” By Two Choices - 29 October, 2008
2 Choices Live Video - ‘A Night To Remember’ - 16 October, 2008
That Was The Summer! - 16 October, 2008
With the summer sadly over and festival season coming to a close it comes time to move closer to home, (preferable by the fire, or arsoned car) and mull over a glass of Super Tennants, what a summer it has been.
After Secret Garden Festival not much could top my festival experiences but some came close…
The inagural Beachdown Festival based on the beautiful Devils Dyke surpassed all expections and became one of the real highlights of the year, and so close to home. The weather held out (in a very British sort of way i.e. it didn’t but it could have been worse!) and gave us impressive perfomances from great acts such as Golgol Bordello, Horace Andy, Carnival Collective, Fun Loving Criminals, De La Soul, Jah Wobble, etc etc… Check out the pics here if you haven’t already
Smaller festivals have included Loop
and Brighton Live
Photos from all of these events are on the website gallery pages and the facebook group page. Many have also been published.
Filling in the gaps between the festivals were numerous promo shoots, including new work for UpCDownC’s new release ‘Embers’
Promo shoots and single artwork for Captains of the Citadel, promo work for Black Thatcher (http://www.blackthatcher.com/home.html), The Shofar Quartet and The Shofar Allstars and PR work for music promoters including for the following nights -
Captcha - http://www.myspace.com/abbasipresentscaptcha
Showcase Live - www.showcase-live.com
Live and Love Music - www.liveandlovemusic.com
AND
Beyond The Mic - www.myspace.com/beyondthemicuk
On top of all this have been numerous commissions for local and national press, PR and magazines including The Guide, XYZ Magazine, The Argus, Starling PR and Brighton Music Scene.Com to name a few, as well as numerous other places where my images have been used through picture agencies.
Oh and i’ve just completed work on a live video for local pop rock band 2 Choices, watch this space……
PHEW! Now its time to get back to the studio!
Just a few smaller things coming up -
promo shoots this week for Captains of The Citadel
Promo shoot next week for AfterSpark
Press coverage for Brighton City Festival, with headliners Underworld, Jeff Mills, Nightmares on Wax and Brand New Heavies).
And that just leaves me to say a big thank you to all the people that have visited my site, and a big hello again to all the people I’ve met and worked with over the summer.
Watch this space for new work!
Peace
